Abstract
Public education was identified as a crucial livelihood area in the equalized allocation of basic public services. Multiple research methods, including the grey relational analysis model, improved coupling coordination degree model, obstacle degree diagnosis model, and grey prediction model, were adopted. Based on the empirical data from the Dabie Mountains Revolutionary Old Area, in-depth exploration was conducted on the unequal phenomena and spatiotemporal evolution mechanism in the coordinated development of regional public education. The research results showed that: 1) During the study period, differences existed in the development levels of basic education and higher education among various cities in the Dabie Mountains area; The coordinated development level of regional public education resources showed a steady upward trend with obvious regional differentiation characteristics; 2) The student-teacher ratio in general middle schools and secondary vocational schools was the main obstacle factor affecting the development of basic education, while the per-student scientific and technological fiscal expenditure and the number of scientific and technological geological exploration practitioners were the main obstacle factors for the development of higher education; 3) During the prediction period, the coordination degree of public education in the Dabie Mountains area showed a certain growth trend, among which Xiaogan City, Lu'an City and Zhumadian City grew relatively rapidly.
