Solvent⁃dependent aryl sulfone synthesis under visible‑light conditions

  • A novel visible‑light‑driven solvent‑dependent strategy for the synthesis of aryl sulfones was demonstrated. With Ir(ppy)3 as photocatalyst, aryl sulfonyl chlorides and boronic acids as substrates, potassium carbonate as base, 1,2‑dichloroethane as solvent and water as additive, the proposed strategy could afford various aryl sulfones in 32%~93% yields at room temperature under blue light irradiation. In addition, the application of the strategy in preparation of celecoxib analogue was achieved.
