Abstract: The application and the research of intelligent materials and intelligent structures are reviewed with 29 refs.The feasibility is emphatically discussed,which is that intelligent materials are used in civil engineering to form the intelligent architectural structure which makes itself gains the ablility bearing loads as well as the functions of discernment ,analysis ,judgment,driving and also the functions of diagnosising,adapting and renovating itself.
