Abstract: A preliminary study was made on evolution and progress of the urban system in Yubei Area (North Henan Province) by means of rescaled range analysis(R/S analysis),population and GNP being used as variables. Some rules and characteristics were found of growth of the system of cities in the studied region in last decade.
