Abstract: The development in research of hydrophobic hydrogel and hydrophobic interaction was reviewed with 40 references. Methods of preparation and characterization for hydrophobic hydrogel were described in detail.The relationship between performance and structure of hydrogel was studied. The field theory and the descriptions of hydrophobic interaction are introduced. The research of hydrophobic interaction is very important for explanation of the mechanism of drug delivery in hydrophobic hydrogel.
