Abstract: The output and quality of chestnut in the south of Henan province were affected seriously because of the low contents of silicon element in chestnut (e.g.,for the four gardens,only owerage 6.0 mg/kg).It was found that the output differences between the bumper harvest year and the poor harvest year wuld be deereased from 35.5% to 14.8% in six years by infusing 1.0%,2 L sodium silicate solution in the chestnut trunk during the new shoots stage and leaflet formation stage every year.
