New advances in genetic studies of amino acid permease genes in rice

Abstract: Amino acid permeases (AAPs) in plants are involved in regulating the absorption, transport, and distribution of amino acids, and are crucial for plant growth and development. In the rice genome, a total of 19 members (OsAAP1—19) were identified for the amino acid permease gene family, which are distributed on 8 chromosomes of rice. It was found that OsAAPs protein sequences have high similarity, and the promoter region of OsAAPs has multiple cis-acting elements and their potential biological functions. At present, it has been found that OsAAPs can significantly affect various traits such as yield and quality of rice. Therefore, the molecular evolution characteristics of the rice amino acid permeability enzyme gene family, as well as the new progress of amino acid permeability enzyme genes in rice yield and related agronomic traits, rice quality traits, etc. were summarized, to provide new genetic resources for the cultivation of high-quality and high-yield rice varieties.
