Abstract:
Using hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS) as the silylation reagent for the green synthesis of silyl ether in the absence of catalyst and solvent was developed. The method can be applied for a variety of primary benzyl alcohols, heteroaryl methanols, allylic alcohols, aliphatic alcohols and even the more sterically hindered secondary alcohols and tertiary alcohols, affording the target silyl ether products only at room temperature with a yield of up to 99%. Moreover, the method can be easily extend to phenols. This new method has the advantages of simple reaction conditions, easy operation, less by⁃products and environmental protection, showing good practical value.
