Abstract:
Three gelators (G1, G2 and G3) with strong hydrophobic groups terminating at the end of oligomeric aromatic amide were designed and synthesized. Their structures were characterized by IR,
1H NMR,
13C NMR and HRMS. The effects of molecular structure and surface roughness on gel properties and hydrophobicity were studied. The results showed that the gel properties of gelator was stronger when there were more flexible groups, such as long alkane chains or polyether chains. The hydrophobicity of xerogel film formed by gelator was enhanced with the increase of hydrophobic groups or the decrease of hydrophilic groups.
