Abstract:
In order to widen the axial ratio beamwidth (ARBW), a branch circularly polarized patch antenna is proposed.Shorting pins are loaded along two diagonals to short the lower patch and the ground plane, which change the field distribution beneath the lower patch due to shunt inductive effect.Further the electrical width with pins is increased at 1.6 GHz.And the ARBW is broadened.Furthermore, the match branch is applied for the lower patch to improve impedance bandwidth. The simulation results show that the ARBW of less than 3 dB is 160° in
xoz-plane and 156° in
xoy-plane.the relative impedance bandwidth (|
S11| < -10 dB) is 9.0%;the axial ratio (AR) bandwidth is 1.43 GHz (1.02~2.43 GHz), which can be better applied in the
L-band of GNSS.
