Abstract:
The basic physical properties of recycled coarse aggregate that made of waste concrete are firstly studied, and then the influence of replacing part of coarse aggregate with recycled coarse aggregate on the mechanical properties of concrete is studied. The experimental results show that the cubic strength, axial compressive strength, stress-strain relationship and elastic modulus prepared C40 concrete at 40% substitution rate are not significantly different from those of ordinary concrete without recycled coarse aggregate. This shows that the recycled coarse aggregate can be used safely as long as the substitution rate, gradation and water consumption are well controlled.
