Abstract:
To accurately estimate the carbon (C) storage of wetlands in Northeast China, A dataset of 134 peat dates were compiled from previously published literature, unpublished data sources, and our own new dating results across the northeast China. Based on the collection and self-testing of 134 wetland cores, and according to the second national wetland resources survey data, the C storage of wetlands were re-estimated in Northeast China. The results showed that the total wetlands area and C storage within this region is 82 870 km
2 and 4.34 Gt, respectively, and about 80% of the C is contained in Mountain wetlands, such as Changbai mountains, Great Khingan mountains and Lesser Khingan mountains. The C density per unit area of wetlands in Northeast China is 12.49~95.64 kg·m
-2, which range change relatively larger. The factors affecting the uncertainty of wetlands C storage are mainly the wetlands sediment depth, dry bulk density and organic carbon content. Strengthening the collection of these basic data will be more conducive to accurately estimate the C storage of wetlands in Northeast China.
