Abstract:
The chemical constituents of the roots of
Echinops integrifolius were studied. The compounds were isolated and purified by silica gel column chromatography, Sephadex LH-20, semi-HPLC, preparative thin layer chromatography and recrystallization. The structures were identified by physicochemical properties and spectral data. Seven compounds were isolated from the roots of
E. integrifolius and identified as physcion (1), (+)-11α, 13-dihydrodehydrocostuslactone (2), stigmasterol (3), 7-hydroxy-counmarin (4), scopoletin (5),
p-hydroxybenzoic acid (6) and skimmin (7), respectively, among which compound 6 was isolated for the first time from this plant and compounds 1, 2, 5 and 7 were isolated for the first time from
Echinops genus.
