Abstract:
In order to explore the characteristic of beginning and duration of four seasons, the daily average temperature of Xinyang city during 1951-2013 was investigated using 5 days moving-average, Mann-Kendall test, wavelet analysis and R/S analysis and so on. The main results contain: (1) the beginning of spring, summer, autumn and winter in Xinyang city during the past 63 years is about March 26th, May 29th, September 19th and November 20th, respectively; (2) the length of spring has increasing trend and winter has decreasing trend. It implies that the annual average temperature of Xinyang city goes up during the last 63 years, which has similar conclusions with the report by IPCC; (3) the beginning and duration of four seasons has short cycles (less than ten years); (4) the future trend of beginning and duration of four seasons in Xinyang city will continue on which of the last 63 years
