Abstract:
A feasible method to improve the function of traditional stethoscope was proposed. Matlab was employed to process the heart sound data (supplied by Montreal Research Institute), including digital filtering, notch filter and spectrum analysis. Thereafter, a heart sound sensor for capturing the heart sound signals and amplifying and filtering circuit were made by taking the characteristics of heart sounds (small amplitudes and wide bands) into consideration. Finally, an electronic heart sounds stethoscope was developed which can not only play the heart sound signals and display them on a LCD synchronously but also storage and playback the signals
