Abstract:
A new synthetic method of 1,5-diaryl-1,4-pentadiene-3-one was developed by using acetylacetone and aromatic aldehydes as substrate, sodium hydroxide as catalyst and ethanol as solvent. The structure of the compounds were characterized by NMR and IR. The results showed that the yield of the product was above 90% when 10% sodium hydroxide solution was used as catalyst.Compared with the conventional methods, the new synthetic method has several advantages, such as the simple raw materials, the mild reaction conditions, and the high yield of production
