Abstract: The sustainable development index system of regional agriculture is one of the key components of the research on the regional agricultural sustainable development. The nature of the sustainable development and the features of regional agriculture development decide the building of the index system. According to the basic criteria, the practical principle and the hierachic principle, the sustainable development index system of agriculture in Xinyang city has been elementarily set up.
