Abstract:
The relationship between spatial distribution of Xinzhou’s villages and the degree of landform fluctuation was analyzed with digital elevation DEM model of Shanxi province and Shanxi village maps. The results showed that the landform of Xinzhou was ranged from middle to high in fluctuation, which was coincided with the whole landform of Shanxi province. The topography was described as the east and the west were high, and the middle was low, and there exists large difference between different villages. Distribution of villages has close relationship with the landform fluctuation degree. In the whole city, there were most villages in the middle fluctuation areas, which match the city’s mountain and plateau rate of 87%. Next is the low-relief area. The density of villages has a negativly correlate with degree of landform fluctuation. The village density of low undulating terrain area was the highest one, followed by medium undulating terrain area, and the lowest was the high undulating terrain area. With the increase of village density, landform index is decreased
